Basketry: Rescuing, Reviving, Retaining
Traditional Baskets in the British IslesBasket making in the British Isles today is rich and diverse. A combination of knowledge, skills and practices, it encompasses a wide range of materials, forms, techniques and cultural influences. The Basketmakers’ Association’s Traditional Basketry Project (TBP), working in partnership with Heritage Crafts, strives to rescue, revive and retain skills and promote information about UK basketry traditions. This is now creating a central resource that can be learned from and used to inform and educate the current and next generation of basket makers.
Ruthin and guest curator Gregory Parsons are thrilled to be working with the Basketmakers’ Association’s TBP to bring the fourth exhibition on this most ancient craft to Wales.
