Angels on Washing Lines

Enter the world of David Jones’s imagination, beautifully crafted and brilliantly coloured. Angels hang on washing lines, Zigzags are ‘characters and places in search of a story’ and flying fish have human heads. Strange dreamlike contraptions compete in the Whacky Races Revisited. Will the Cyclist Powered by a Tiger beat the Flying Shed or The Husband and Wife in Bed?

There are prints, sculptures and installations to explore and feel free to turn the pages of his wonderful sketchbooks which document his travels and show ideas for his artwork.

David Jones’ exhibition represents a lifetime of observing detail and the rhythm of life and the music he enjoys – he plays Soprano saxophone. The whimsy of his imagination knows no bounds.

Angels on Washing Lines

The ideas and images that inspire David Jones’ work have their seeds in his childhood and he has retained that sense of playfulness throughout his life. This beautiful publication shows the amazing diversity of David’s talent – from graphic design, to sculpture, installation and the immediacy of his many sketchbooks.
