Jerwood Makers Open 2015

28 November 2015 – 31 January 2016

Zachary Eastwood-Bloom, Malene Hartmann Rasmussen, Jasleen Kaur, Ian McIntyre & Silo Studio.

Jerwood Makers Open promotes the significance of making and materials within the visual arts arena; seeking to support exceptional skill and imagination while broadening the boundaries of what has traditionally been defined as applied arts practice.

The fifth edition of Jerwood Makers Open presents significant new works by Zachary Eastwood- Bloom, Malene Hartmann Rasmussen, Jasleen Kaur, Ian McIntyre and Silo Studio. Their works span hand-finished ceramics, new methods of casting, previously unexplored materials and the incorporation of digital processes.

The Makers were selected from a national submission of 267 proposals by an external panel comprising Isobel Dennis, Director of New Designers; Grant Gibson, Editor of Crafts magazine; and Michael Marriott, leading product designer and curator. Each Maker received an award of £7,500 to realise ambitious new projects, the result of which were debuted at Jerwood Space before touring nationally.
