Portfolio: Show and tell exhibition

November 2016 – January 2017

Come and view the artwork that our talented young artists and designers have created during Portfolio Summer Art School Programme in 2016.

An exhibition of 3D paper sculptures, animation, wire sculptures and textiles.

Portfolio is a course of development workshops for young artists and designers age 14–18 who have a have a particular interest within the visual arts; the workshop are all based at Ruthin Craft Centre. During the sessions the artists / makers share their expertise, introduce new techniques and discuss the participants work and ideas in supporting the development of their own personal portfolio towards their Art and Design studies.

The project allowed the young people who participated to work with 4 professional artists/makers within their field: Jennifer Collier, Seán Vicary, Helaina Sharpley and Susie Vickery. During the 2-day artist led workshops the young people experimented with new techniques and created their own original pieces of work.

We are also pleased to announce that we have been awarded a grant by the Art Council of Wales to offer the Portfolio scheme across North Wales. Enabling us to work with three North Wales galleries: Oriel Wrecsam, Galeri and MOSTYN, to offer Portfolio activities targeted at 14–18 year olds.

This will allow these galleries to focus in the first instance on delivering Portfolio and will offer a direct pathway to those young people who have completed Criw Celf.

The NEW project will start in September 2016 until August 2017.

This project has been made possible by the Art Council of Wales.
