During this day we’ll consider how different printmaking processes 
are used to produce different effects. We’ll look at examples of work by
 some of the artists John has worked with before going on to make our own 
monoprints and experiment with creating different linear effects.

John White worked for Curwen Studio early on in his career
 and has made lithographs for many well-known artists,
 including David Hockney, Henry Moore, Elisabeth Frink, Michael Landy
 and Sonia Boyce. He taught printmaking at Chelsea School of Art and
 Maidstone College of Art where he introduced Tracey Emin to monoprinting.
 John is also an artist in his own right and regularly exhibits his prints, 
inspired by music and nature, at the French House in London.

 with stencils with Tara Dean

In this workshop we will be looking at how drawings of 
landscapes and natural forms can be translated into printmaking 
through paper stencils and screenprinting. We will also use these 
printmaking techniques to make cards and decorate fabric.

Tara Dean works as a community artist and printmaker and
 regularly runs workshops around Denbighshire. She is inspired by the 
landscape of the Vale of Clwyd and all her work begins with sketches
 developed from natural details found across North Wales.
