A workshop for those interested in enamel, particularly those who wish to discover simple and versatile methods of creating metal forms for enamelling.
Participants will learn to fabricate a lidded box from copper foil, exploring ways to make unusual shapes, methods for adding relief to the copper surface and techniques for jointing the box components together.
Approaches to using wet process enamel will be explored to create colourful decorative surfaces on the box made. Alongside the making, discussion will centre around the history and traditions of the 18th Century enamel trade, allowing you to situate your creative production in the past or present.
