Ceri Jones and Laura Thomas will share their experiences as independent Curators and Artists, through images, practical activities and a tour around the new exhibitions at Ruthin Craft Centre.

This workshop is for Artists and creatives interested in learning about curatorial decisions for fine art, craft and design, and how to curate your own show.

Please bring along a single domestic object of your choice and any unwanted magazines.


About the tutors:

Ceri Jones – During the years spent running her ceramic design practice, Ceri showed work overseas, undertaking major projects in Japan and New Zealand. In roles at the Arts Council of Wales, Wales Arts International and International Relations she worked closely with individual practitioners, galleries and cultural organisations to develop policies and opportunities for the sector. Now running Fieldwork, Ceri collaborates and delivers on cross-artform projects including curating, writing, showcasing and mentoring.

Laura Thomas – An awardwinning woven textile artist and designer specialising in producing striking textile work for contemporary spaces. Alongside her making practice, Laura has a complimentary passion for education and curation projects. Since 2010, Laura has curated exhibitions for Oriel Myrddin, Llantarnam Grange Arts Centre, The National Wool Museum, Craft in the Bay and Tenby Art Gallery & Museum. She is one of the seven artists in the current Indian Threads exhibition.
