Year 10 pupils studying Art and Design at Ysgol Brynhyfryd, Ruthin will get the opportunity to work alongside leading artist, Andy Singleton, during his short residency. They will create a large scale paper installation which will be displayed at Ruthin Craft Centre from the end of February until the beginning of April. The students will experience gallery life, engaging with professional practitioners to develop an in-depth understanding of Contemporary Applied Arts, in support of their Welsh Baccalaureate qualification.

Andy Singleton is a paper artist and illustrator based in Wakefield, England. He studied Animation with Illustration at Manchester Metropolitan University. His work is an exploration of the natural and manmade world through intricate paper cuttings, paper sculpture, hand drawn illustrations and large scale installations. Andy has worked with a number of clients on commissioned projects including Liberty, Kensington Palace, Manchester Art Gallery and the Hepworth, Wakefield.

This project is part of a North Wales-wide Welsh Baccalaureate pilot project exploring the role of galleries and artists in supporting key elements of the Welsh Bacc curriculum, initiated by engage Cymru in partnership with six local authorities in north Wales.
